An epic drive from Quebec to Thunder Bay. 1000kms through mostly forest and lakes but pleasantly surprised at Nipigon where frozen waterfalls and high rocky cliffs greeted me. Some more pics from today are below. I’m on schedule and heading for a very warm Winnipeg tod...

Minus 5 Celsius as I wake in this part of Quebec. I have a very long section today, through Cochrane and Kapuskasing. It’ll be scenic I hope, with sun forecast all day

Current mileage is around 1600. The next 48 hours will be brutal as the road narrows and I’m into the mountains and lakes. I have set myself a target (and booked accommodation) for Thunder Bay by Friday, via Val D’Or and Cochrane. This morning I have two short social e...

Today was spent in Quebec and Megantic County. Lovely weather and great people. I have, now, the hardest part of the trip. To cross the Canadian Shield on the westbound trip I’ll be in mid/North Quebec and Ontario. I’ve a thousand miles on a road with few ‘dual carriag...

Bonjours. Yes, I made it to Quebec. A long but enjoyable day and the weather is stunning. Much like my tuna salad! I actually popped into America for coffee today too - as you do. Great chat with the border guards and at the cafe in Limestone, Maine :-)

All going well I shall leave this lovely b&b in Pictou County and drive through New Brunswick to Quebec today. A lot of miles, but tomorrow will be easier.

Left Deer Lake in the rain and drove through more, with fog, frozen lakes, rough roads and finally Port Aux Basques. The ferry was deserted - just 26 passengers. I had one deck all to myself! Lovely staff and even a special treat to be on the bridge talking to Capt. Ca...

Currently waiting for the ferry to start loading. Could be stormy later. It’s a 7-hour crossing. Done around 600 miles so far with another 150 later this evening. I’m in New Glasgow tonight. Possible problems with flooding in New Brunswick which I’ll have to be mindful...

May 7, 2018

Arrived in Deer Lake around 4pm. Quite an uneventful place but I got here in good time and can now check off the first 400 miles. The weather has been great but rain is forecast for tomorrow’s ferry crossing. For those tracking me, please note the unit is having diffic...
